Finding things to do….

| | ,

We often struggle to find fun, new things for us to do as a family. Of course, we have our “go-to” day’s out (mostly National Trust places, or simply mooching around the City), but we always want new places to take Grayson to, so he doesn’t get bored of seeing the same things every 2 or 3 weeks.

A few years ago, I created a photography location website, that was designed to help photographers share the places they visit, give feedback and advice, so other photographers could then find new locations in their local area to go and visit. The site died, because I moved and changed jobs, and just didn’t have the time to keep on top it.

Recently, I’ve rebuilt it, under a new name, with new features. Meet, “Iterasie“. Don’t ask about the name, it’s part latin from Itinerary, and Journey, combined. Just thought it sounded catchy.

The idea being that you can access from your phone, allowing your location to be read by the site. It’ll then return all the locations that are near to you, that have been added by fellow users. It’ll show details such as Parking, opening times, facilities and so on, and a few pictures so you can get a feel for what’s there before you bother to drive there!

The main homepage

You can filter your results by type, so if you know you want to go to the beach, you can just view all the beaches.

The images are pulled in from Google Places, so they’re always accurate to the location, and safe in terms of their content. Users can rate and leave a review, just to add to the information you get.

I know a lot of this can be found on google, but the idea is that you don’t need to know where you want to go before you search, you just need to know where you are! The rest happens for you, and hopefully it’ll shine some lights on locations near you that you didn’t know about.

If you have a few minutes, why not head over and have a look? You can log in using Facebook or Google, so no usernames or passwords to remember. Maybe even add and review some locations whilst you’re there, eh? 😉
