I’ve seen this question so much in the 7+ years that I’ve been blogging. I’ve read articles on why it’s a dying trend and I’ve seen some of my favourite blogs merge over to YouTube and now Instagram. I’ve also asked myself this very question a number of times.
I don’t know if there’s a simple answer to this question, but if I had to give a simple answer then I would say: No, it’s not.
If you’d have asked me this question a few years ago just after I’d fallen out of love with blogging my answer would have been somewhere along the lines of “I give it a year before everyone is on youtube instead.” Which technically did happen for a lot of the bigger bloggers, but I actually see that as a good thing.
To be a good blogger, you need to have passion about the things you are writing. If you don’t have the love for it, and you’re doing it for all the wrong reasons then you’ll never really enjoy it and then of course it will die out. But since I’ve been blogging again, and I mean really taking blogging seriously. I’ve come across so many incredible blogs, that are just doing it because they love it and as long as there are people like that, blogging will never die.
I actually believe that in the next few years, people are going to come round to blogging again and that it will be as big as it was in 2012(ish) and I for one, can’t wait for that time to come round!
Whether blogging is a dying business or not, I plan to keep writing for a long as I can come up with ideas and as long as I can physically run my blog.
What’s your take on the path blogging is taking?
